The Confederate Flag
The Confederate Flag stands for a lot of things, but the one thing it
Doesn't stand for is racism. The flag has nothing to do with racism and
Never did. The flag stands for southern heritage, and that alone. What
We mean by that is, it stands for the southern states that wanted to become
Their own nation. It stands for the confederate soldiers who lost there
Lives in the Civil War. It by all means does not stand for racism, which
Many think it does. One of the main reasons that everyone thinks it stands
For racism is because of the Ku Klux Klan (KKK), and that while in elementary
School the teachers teach the children that the southern states were the
Bad guys as to say. Just because the KKK gives the flag a bad name, it
Doesn't mean that it is bad or stands for racism. It merely stands for
Southern heritage and that alone.

Don't Want To Be Black Anymore!
It Wouldn't Burn!!
At midday on the State house lawn, flag protesters
ignited Confederate and Nazi flags.
The city police blocked the entire intersection of Main and Gervais streets. This is a major intersection directly in front of the capitol building where the Confederate Soldiers monument sits. The Soldier's monument was adorned with a magnolia wreath in honor of Confederate Memorial Day. Children had laid red roses and red carnations on the base of the monument. The confederate national flags and the Bonnie Blue flag waved as two reenactors stood guard at the monument. A beautiful and sad sight, knowing the debate that was going on inside the capitol. Kevin Gray, (dreadlocks, African garb, and not even able to read his speech without stumbling over the big words -- reading is fundamental) enters the intersection, flanked by some African queen in a gold adorned African looking mu-mu and another character in African dress. Between two poles they have sewn a Nazi flag and Confederate flag together. After stumbling through his hate speech, the flag is ignited. The Nazi flag went up in flames, but our proud Southern Cross remained. Gray doused it with more lighter fluid and tried to light it again ... it wouldn't burn. The entire pro Southern contingent around the base of the Soldiers monument let out a loud rebel yell. Finally Gray threw the Southern Cross on top of the burning Nazi flag that had already fallen to the ground and was still burning. The Southern Cross melted from the heat, but never burned. The southern by-standers immediately broke into a round of 'Dixie' and as Gray retreated back across the street, they chanted 'God save the South!' |

Robert E. Lee
During the Mexican war Lee was an engineering officer with Winfield
Scott's force. Jefferson Davis appointed Lee a general in the southern
army in 1861. He was not successful in preventing an invasion of western
Virginia, so he was sent to the Atlantic Coastal defense. In 1862 when
Joseph E. Johnston was wounded, Lee became commander of the confederate
army in Virginia. In Richmond, Lee drove the unionist away from the capital
in the Seven Days' Battles. In August he defeated the Northern army in
the second Battle of Bull Run. In May 1863 Lee won his greatest victory
but also suffered his worst loss in life. The Unionist were driven back
with heavy casualties. The following year Lee led his army against a series
of bloody attacks against the Northern Army commanded by Ulysses S. Grant.
Robert Lee was one of the best commanders during the Civil War and was
an American hero.

Lieutenant Governor Mark Taylor speaks on flag issue Albany, April 25-- The state flag may see some changes as soon as next year. Lieutenant Governor Mark Taylor says right now it's not a top priority, but lawmakers could introduce legislation to remove the Confederate symbol at the next session. This would be the first time since 1993 that state
leaders debate the issue. Back then, Governor Zell Miller's push to strip
the flag of the emblem failed. Meantime civil rights groups are trying
to win support for changing the Georgia flag by reaching out to High School
Students. I don't believe this is an issue for the politicians to decide,
said Lt. Gov. Mark Taylor. I think it should come up from the grassroots
level and people should let their leaders know how they feel about this
issue. The Lt. Governor claims 30% of Georgians want to change the flag,
30% want lawmakers to leave the state flag alone, and 40% are undecided.
Taylor says for the most part, those numbers reflect the opinions in the
General Assembly.

Now that the Confederate flag
Flap has gone national; let's examine what this hoopla is all about. In
1962, as part of the centennial celebration of the War of Northern Aggression,
South Carolina raised the Confederate battle flag over its capitol.
Well, like so many arguments in America today, It's about politics and interpretation of history. The National Association For the Advancement of Colored People having won all its legitimate legal Battles got to casting around for some reason to stay in existence and Decided to attack historical symbols of the Confederacy. It dubbed the Dear old banner "the most odious symbol in the universe." It said that The battle flag is a symbol of slavery and racism. And there's the conflict. Realizing that the meaning of any symbol lies In the eyes of the beholder, those who defend the Southern heritage adamantly Reject the NAACP's definition. To us, the battle flag is a symbol of courage, Honor and love of freedom. Despite the ignorance of most people today, The facts are on our side. The South did not secede to preserve slavery, And the North did not invade to end it. The differences between North and South, which surfaced long before slavery even became an issue, were economical, Cultural, and political. The South seceded to preserve the constitutional Republic of sovereign states, and the North invaded to destroy the republic Once and for all and establish the centralized national government that We have today. Slavery had been a global institution imposed On the colonies by Great Britain over the protests, by the way, of both Virginia and Georgia colonists. When the United States was created, slavery was a national Institution. Racism was national. The U.S. Constitution protected slavery And was upheld by the Supreme Court. If any flag symbolizes slavery in the United States, it is the Stars and Stripes, not the Confederate battle Flag. After all, during the war, it was the commander Of the Northern armies who owned slaves while the Southern armies had freed His. The majority of Southerners did not own any slaves, and, of those Who did some were black slave owners. In short, the South is tired of being The scapegoat for national sins, and a fund-raising tool for the NAACP. A second factor in the dispute is the First Amendment. The fact that a minority or even a majority decides that a symbol Is offensive cannot be reason to ban that symbol. But, because the NAACP Wants to boycott South Carolina and Jesse Jackson wants to boycott Georgia (It's state flag incorporates the battle flag), we have a suggestion: Why Don't all the South haters boycott the entire South all at the same time? we'd love for you to stay away. ![]() The NAACP is financially weak. To combat the Boycott of South Carolina, the Council of Conservative Citizens favors A counter boycott of the corporations that funds the NAACP. The following Is a list of corporations, which donate generously to the NAACP or its "Legal Defense" slush fund: 1. K-Mart, 3100 W. Big Beaver, Troy, MI; CEO - Floyd Hall; (248) 643-1000. (Very vulnerable during shopping season.) 2. JC Penney, 6501 Legacy Dr, Plano, TX; CEO - Gale Duff-Bloom; (972) 431-1000 (Ditto.) 3.
